Anna was very quiet the next morning, I think she had one big hang-over, as she just never knew when to stop, accepting drinks as long as it was offered, and not once did I hear her say no!
After breakfast and a handful of panados she perked up enough to agree to go with me to see the Queen's yacht that was now outmoded, and then have a look at the National Art Museum.
I was not impressed with the Royal yacht, as it was quite empty, all personal and interesting stuff being removed, and we felt it a great waste of our hard earned money to have paid so much to see a lifeless old yacht! The art museum however was a wonderful experience, and I could have stayed in there the rest of the day, but in the first place Anna complained that if she didn't get a smoke immediately, she would tear the place down, and secondly, we still wanted to walk up to the castle to have a look.
The walk up to the castle was steep, and we were perspiring quite heavily when at last we got there, just to find that the entrance fee was above our touch, as we still had to have lunch, and get home. So we had a look at the outside, and climbed down a winding little path at the side of the castle that ended in the beautiful park far below!
Anna, quite a heavy smoker, found that paying about five pounds, where in South Africa she paid about eighty pence for twenty cigarettes a bit heavy, and as her financial state was not very healthy, had now bought some tobacco and a packet of papers to roll her own cigarettes like most people we knew. But it was heavy going, and sitting down in a cafe for lunch, I felt so sorry seeing her struggling to get something rolled that resembled a ciggy! As she had now discarded all her endeavors for beautiful long red nails, her acrylic ones having fell off one after the other, it was quite sad to see her trying to roll the cigarettes with her short, but still bloodred nails. There was no hope of ever growing them to a reasonable length while working at the inn, but she was actually coping quite well.
Not knowing the bus times, we started after our late lunch to look for our bus stop, and did not have to wait long, but oh my heavens, this thing took hours and hours to get to Stirling, where we had to get another bus to Callender, and yet another one to Strathyre. We later learned about the different routes, and would look out for the fastest of the lot, but for now we had to sit it out!
We got to Stirling and then Callender ok, just to find that there were no buses running to Strathyre after  six, and as it was now raining heavily we were a wee bit dejected, and in the end phoned Joe, who came to pick us up, telling us not to please in future phone while the evening diners were eager to have their dinner, and drinks! But, he did come to pick us up immediately, and we could have kissed him, the clouds by then spewing out great volumes of icy cold drops! After we showered, Anna begged me to go down to the pub with her, as she had to ask one of the smokers to show her how to roll a decent cigarette, and of course we got caught up with the friendly Strathyre people, and had another very late night, Anna now over her hangover, and ready to party!
